WEEK2 WAY OF PLAYING

This week, I write about way of playing of the guitar . The guitar can be played in many ways, so let us know what way there are in playing the guitar .

・Chord stroke

Chord stroke is basic way of playing the guitar. Only by mastering Chord stroke you can roughly accompany almost songs.

Chord stroke is holding the strings of the guitar on fret in the chord and picking the strings of the guitar by pick. Chord is combination of sounds step. Guitar can sound chord by 6 strings, so by sound many chords you can play many songs.

・Arpeggio

Arpeggio is a technique to make each sound steps. Detailed expression can be played by this technique.

When you want to do arpeggio, you only have to pick a string one by one on holding chord which you want to play.

・Bridge mute

Bridge mute is a technique to make dull sound. When you do bridge mute with electric guitar, you can play strong heavy sound.

When you want to do Bridge mute, you only have to pick the strings on touching the guitar`s bridge by your right hand.

・Cutting

Cutting is a percussive technique which needs real sound and brushing sound of mute. Tough Cutting is basis of rhythm play and backing, Cutting is difficult technique to play well.

When you want to play Cutting, you only have to stop the vibration of the strings by your left hand`s finger. Cutting`s difficulty is in stroking and how to make atmosphere of rhythm and groove.

・Hammering

Hammering is hitting a string on fret. By Hammering, you can more spread your expression. But in fact I do not often do Hammering. I want to play a song which needs Hammering.

When you want to do Hammering, you only have to hit the string which is picked and sounding on high fret.

・Pulling

Pulling is a technique which is reverse of Hammering. This technique also I do not often do.

When you want to do Pulling, in contrast to Hammering, you only have to release your finger from string as your finger scratch the string, and then the lower sound will sound.

・Trill

By Trill, you can play PIROPIRO sound.

When you want to do Trill, you only have to alternately repeat Hammering and Pulling.

・Slide

By Slide, you can change the sound`s step smoothly so that you can make refreshing atmosphere.

When you want to do slide, you only have to shift your finger holding string from the fret to another fret. The sound will change height smoothly.

・Bending(Choking)

Bending(Choking) is a technique that produce symbol of  the electric guitar. And how the guitarist control Bending(Choking) exaggerate the guitarist`s character, range of expression and emotion of guitarist.

When you want to do Bending(Choking), you only have to raise or lower the string you holding on fret. As you raise or lower the string, the sound become higher.
